Thyroid disorders are one of the most common endocrine disorders in the United States. There are many variables which contribute to thyroid disorders. Some of these variables include autoimmune thyroid disease, infilterative diseases, surgical removal of thyroid glands, and radiation treatments.

Thyroid Disease PatientHyperthyroidism which can cause tachycardia (meaning heart rate over 100 beats per minute) and increased systolic blood pressure, loss of weight, and hand tremors can be detected by experienced physicians. If a patient presents these symptoms, a physician may decide to do additional lab tests to verify hyperthyroidism. Our practice in McLean utilizes local laboratories equipped to perform these necessary tests with a short turn around time.
